Dr. Douglas Weekes was born and raised in Canada, where he received his doctorate in veterinary medicine from the Ontario Veterinary College, University of Guelph. After graduating and briefly working in Toronto, he moved to New Jersey and founded the Edinburg Animal Hospital (then known as Family Pet Veterinary) in 1986. As well as working as a
practicing veterinarian he keeps busy as a single parent widower, raising three children: Amber, Grant and Clifford. When there is some free time in his life he enjoys hiking, canoeing, camping, and other outdoor activities. Rainy day pursuits include reading and listening to music.
Both doctors are members of the AVMA (American Veterinary Medical Association) and the NJVMA (New Jersey Veterinary Medical Association)
